Integrative Therapy

Integrative Therapy

Annabel or Dominic can work with you with this approach.

Integrative therapy brings together several specific therapeutic approaches. Those who practice in this way believe that there is no one approach that can treat each client in all situations. They tailor the sessions to the individual client’s needs and personal circumstances, rather than tailoring the client to the therapy.

The integrative approach has the idea that no one theory holds the answer, human psychology is complex and can be explored and understood in many ways.

Based on the client’s needs, the therapist can suggest techniques, exercises and goals which can create an empowering balance between mind and body. This will encourage the client to move beyond their limitations and discover greater satisfaction in life.

Benefits of Integrative Therapy

Integrative therapy is very flexible. It also focuses on the whole of the individual, i.e their physical as well as emotional feelings. It can be particularly beneficial to those who are experiencing negative patterns of behaviour which are caused by anxiety, phobias, depression, addictions, or any other mental health issues which are having an impact on life satisfaction (such as low self-esteem, trauma, attachment disorders etc)

Client Therapist Relationship

The relationship between the counsellor and the client is seen as being a crucial component of the healing nature of integrative therapy. The therapist will engage in deep attentive listening, without judgement or pre-suppositions that might distort understanding. This meaningful interaction between equals empowers clients to change the patterns of behaviour that they have become accustomed to.

The therapist commits themselves wholly to their client in order to understand as fully as possible their exploration of self.
