About Me
I have always loved working with people and get great satisfaction from seeing others develop and achieve their potential. In addition to my Counselling work I have had a long career in Education including being responsible for leading professional Counsellor training programmes in two Universities, and was Head of Psychology in one of them for 5 years.

Relationship Counsellor

I am an experienced Couples Counsellor, working with both couples and individuals experiencing difficulties in their relationships. I can offer you support if you are going through difficult times or feeling low, anxious or unable to cope. I am also a qualified Supervisor and can offer supervision to practising Counsellors.

forestAbout the way I work

I am a Relate trained Counsellor and have worked with couples and individuals for more than 15 years. I work in a person-centred way, offering warmth and understanding in a confidential space where you can talk about what is troubling you without fear of being judged.

If you come with your partner I won’t take sides but will listen to both of you and help you to understand your relationship and why you might be experiencing difficulties.  I will then encourage you to decide what changes you need to make in order to enrich and improve the relationship. If you decide to end the relationship I will offer support throughout the process.

I can also help if you are having other relational difficulties such as problems forming relationships, issues around sexual orientation, coping after divorce or bereavement.

How to begin Counselling

I offer a first session where we can decide whether my approach is the right one for you.

If you come with your partner I will offer an initial meeting with both of you followed by two individual sessions (one each). Only after that will we decide whether Couple Counselling will be helpful.

If there is domestic abuse in the relationship it may not be suitable to see you as a couple but I would be able to offer alternative sources of help.
